Uppingham Students with Birds of Prey
Whilst some Uppingham students chose to take the plunge at Rutland Water, the Pre-Boarding Students and some of the EMA students chose to have a slightly more sedate afternoon learning about the historical craft of falconry. Falconry is the training of birds of prey in order for them to carry out desired tasks such as hunting rabbits or scaring off other birds. In fact the craft is still practiced widely across country and an interesting fact is that the organisers of the Wimbledon tennis tournament employ a falcon to scare away the pigeons, throughout the tournament!!!
Enjoy these pictures, some of which were taken by Ali and Thanapat! Thanks!
