Goodbye from Discovery Summer 2017

End of Week One Presentations

At the end of each week, our students present their work to the rest of the staff and students. These presentations give the students the chance to not only show off their hard work, but also to demonstrate some of the new vocabulary and grammar that they have developed throughout the week's workshops.
This week our workshops included: Poetry, Film-Making, Big Heads, Photo-Story, Fashion and Lonely Planet.

Anna's Fashion Workshop was very popular with the girls. Here they can be seen wearing some of the items they designed and made from second hand fabrics.

William's Film-making Workshop made two films, one about Cockney Rhyming Slang and the other a take on James Bond.

Clare's Big-Head Workshop produced some outstanding monstrously sized papier-mâché heads, which the boys thoroughly enjoyed putting together.

Barbara's Photo-story Workshop produced an outstandingly creative story about a name-tag thief who eventually gets caught out by the detective. Combining creative thinking with photography skills and editing of presentations, all the students involved played an important role in producing a great story.

Poetry in your own language can be tricky to get to grips with. Poetry in a language you are learning can be pretty difficult. This group, working with Adam, produced some great poems and read them out to the audience with a great deal of confidence.

Kit's Lonely Planet Workshop created their own countries to visit. Inventing dictators, landscapes, languages and currencies in order to produce a colourful and interesting insight into these weird and wonderful lands.

On the Pre-Boarding Course, the students prepared their own Television Advertisements to promote Burghley House and all its many interesting secrets and facts.
