Goodbye from Discovery Summer 2017

Out and about in Uppingham

On Friday, all of our students on both the English and Multi-Activity program and the Pre-Boarding program went on the Uppingham Trail.
The Uppingham Trail is a series of points around this quaint little market town that noticeboards and QR barcodes link to videos and sound recordings, telling the history of the school and of different landmarks around the town.
Of course no trip around Uppingham is complete without a short break in the park to play on the swings and roundabouts.
And fingers crossed, this fine weather might hang around for a few more weeks!!
Here the students can be seen visiting the Uppingham Parish Church as part of the trail.
All of the students had questionnaires and surveys to fill in about the different landmarks.
With the sun shining, the temptation is to find a nice warm sandstone wall to perch upon, sit back and enjoy the views of the cottages, school buildings and shops in this beautiful little postcard town.
The trail gives the students a strong feel for the history of the school, one of the oldest in England, along with the history of the town. Fridays are market days which made this a very interesting cultural experience for all of our students.
After a pause for breathe, it was back to work and making notes about the different sights and sounds around the town.
And as with any boys, give them a climbing frame and they will climb to the top. I think they can see Samworths from there!
