Goodbye from Discovery Summer 2017

Pre-Boarding Program

The Pre-Boarding Classes (Hogwart's and St Trinian's) Have embarked upon a practical science project comparing the biodiversity of different species in different locations. They started today with some data collection exercises on the lawns of Samworths House.

Once the data was collected they took it into the classroom in order to start processing it and analysing it.
Science Teacher Craig provided them with the instructions and questions allowing them to look at the basic results in terms of comparing the approximate percentage coverage with different grassy plants native to English gardens.
Once the data was collated and Craig had done a simple analysis of the data, Mark, the Mathematics and Geography teacher instructed the students in preparing a range of different data representations including pie charts, scatter graphs and histograms.
Much of this is new vocabulary to the students but will be incredibly useful as they collect more data this week including from a field trip to the Rutland Water Wetlands Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary.
The Pre-Boarding course focuses on giving the students the language skills and the theoretical skills needed for successful transition into a British, or English speaking International School following British or American style curricula.

  1. How interesting! All children are serious and focused. Now I know why they do not have time and energy to call home to parents. And how they rest after such a hard day?
